Coon Valley Chiropractic
Meet Us
MaryPat C. Peterson D.C.
MaryPat is a New Yorker by heart. She was born in New Jersey and was raised in New York State. She graduated from Shenendehowa High School in Clifton Park, NY, and then went to Houghton College in western New York. After graduation, she taught for 3 years in southern Florida before deciding to go to school for chiropractic. She moved to Davenport, IA, and began classes at Palmer College of Chiropractic, where she met her future husband, Carl Peterson.
MaryPat and Carl were married in 1993 before they graduated, and in 1994, they moved to Coon Valley. MaryPat worked as a chiropractor in Westby for 10 years before starting Coon Valley Chiropractic in 2004.
MaryPat primarily uses the Gonstead Method of adjusting on her patients. She finds that this method works well for all ages of patients from infants to the elderly. The Gonstead approach considers all areas of the spine as well as any other joint in the body.
Nutritional Counseling has become essential in the recovery of patients due to diets deficient in nutrients. MaryPat enjoys discussing diet considerations with her patients in order to help decrease pain, reduce inflammation, and increase vitality. She has discovered that the use of whole food supplementation speeds healing and improves general health in her patients.
Carl R. Peterson D.C.
Carl is a native. He was born and raised in Westby, WI, where he graduated from Westby High School in 1984. Carl went on to Western Technical College where he earned his degree in x-ray radiology. He worked for several years at Barge & Barge Chiropractic as an x-ray technologist, and it was there that he became interested in chiropractic and ultimately decided to go to Palmer College of Chiropractic.
After his graduation in 1994, Carl went back to La Crosse and worked for 12 years as a chiropractor. In 2006, he started work with MaryPat at Coon Valley Chiropractic. Since then, Carl has enjoyed caring for patients in their practice.
Carl uses the Palmer Package of adjustment techniques which is made up of 5 adjustment procedures taught at the chiropractic college. Carl calls on these adjustment tools for the patient requesting maintenance care or for the patient who comes in with severe pain. He manages patients from infants to the elderly. Carl also adjusts the extremities including all joints in the arms and legs.
Carl loves using both whole food supplementation as well as herbs to help speed healing. He has been using Standard Process supplements for many years and has enjoyed seeing the benefits of nutrition in the overall health of his patients.
In October 2015, Carl opened La Farge Chiropractic & Nutrition in La Farge, WI. The office is located in the old La Farge medical clinic. Carl is providing both chiropractic care as well as Nutritional Counseling in the new La Farge office as well as in the Coon Valley clinic.
